Hi there and welcome back! This is part 2 of these gentle exercises based on the Feldenkrais Method can help you relieve jaw and neck tension, which can lead to teeth clenching and teeth grinding (bruxism).
Jaw pain and neck pain are often closely related to each other and can be the source of tension headaches.
If you’d like to learn a simple way you can relieve tight muscles around your face, neck and jaw, then this lesson is for you.
In this exercise sequence you will learn how to move your head, while keeping the (lower) jaw relatively still. This reverses the normal way that the muscles work and helps you to relieve the tension that often comes from jaw clenching and grinding the teeth. These movements can be very relaxing as well as helping to become more aware of your tension patterns.
Suggested instruction: First watch the video right through. Then lie down on the floor get comfortable and listen to the video, following the prompts without looking at the images. Pause the video any time to give yourself more time to explore any movements you find enjoyable, difficult or interesting.
PLEASE REMEMBER: Listen to your body and don’t do anything that doesn’t feel comfortable for you.This is an intermediate level exercise.
