Free Your Neck and Back with Feldenkrais – The Spinal Arches Part 2

Relieve back and neck pain using only a rolled up blanket and these simple and gentle movements.

Free2Move Feldenkrais Practitioner and Physiotherapist Jodie Krantz from Perth Western Australia guides you through a short Awareness Through Movement Lesson to help improve your posture, comfort and the alignment of your spine in the space of less than 10 minutes.

Following on from Part 1, this lesson teaches you how to use the large and powerful muscles around your pelvis to create an undulating movement through the entire spine, from coccyx to head. By fully supporting various parts of the spine while doing the movements, the muscles in the back of the body have the opportunity to relax and lengthen. When you stand up afterwards you may feel taller and lighter.

SUGGESTED INSTRUCTIONS: First watch the video, imagining yourself doing the movements smoothly and effortlessly. Then lie down on a comfortable mat, thick carpet or folded blanket and do the movements with your eyes closed, listening to the instructions and paying close attention to the sensations in your body.

PLEASE REMEMBER: Listen to your body, move slowly and mindfully and never do anything that doesn’t feel comfortable or right to you. This is an intermediate level exercise.
